Tuesday, May 17th, AED Solutions organized 'Hartsave Weert' for the first time. A network evening for all Hartsave Foundations from the region around Weert that make an important contribution to a covering network of AED's and citizen emergency responders. During this evening the foundations met to inspire each other and share knowledge. Noteworthy were the concerns about the right of existence of certain foundations to maintain the carefully constructed network. For example, Stichting Hartsave Moesel is looking for new board members to keep this project running.
The network stands, with enough AED's in use. But to keep it operational for the next 10 years with maintenance and consumables is, due to the lack of much needed funds and support from volunteers, a major challenge. Every week, 300 people in the Netherlands suffer cardiac arrest outside of hospitals. It is crucial that AEDs are available, managed and maintained in neighborhoods and cities to save lives. Without volunteer support and support from municipalities, Hartsave foundations are struggling and cannot continue to ensure a heart-safe environment.
The suggestion to stay in touch with each other to address issues together and to jointly explore raising new funds (in the form of grants and/or sponsorships) was unanimously welcomed.
