His Majesty the King will attend the celebration of the Hartstichting's nationwide AED-citizen emergency response network on Monday December 6th. The network of 245,000 Dutch citizens across the Netherlands allows CPR to be started within six minutes in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. Around 17,000 people are affected by cardiac arrest outside the hospital every year. Using an automated external defibrillator (AED), a person in cardiac arrest can be resuscitated. In doing so, the first six minutes are crucial for the highest chance of survival. For this reason, the Dutch Hartstichting has set up a national network of citizen emergency response workers (HartslagNu). This network of volunteers is often on the scene before an ambulance. The Netherlands is the first country in the world to have such a nationwide resuscitation network of citizen rescuers. The number of rescuers and the number of AEDs have increased significantly in recent years. As such, someone can now be summoned in time for every alert. AED Solutions aims to further close the AED network for an even higher chance of survival for victims of cardiac arrest.
A nice token of appreciation and thanks for citizen responders
The celebration will take place at Theater Amare in The Hague and will be broadcast online from 16:15 to 17:15 by the Hartstichting and HartslagNu: ‘Celebration of 6-minute zone’. You can register via the e-mail received from the Hartstichting and HartslagNu.
