When an AED has been used, it is important that it is made ready for use again in order to bes used for the next sudden cardiac arrest. This blog tells you how to make your AED ready for use again.
Replace materials
When the AED has been used, electrodes have to be replaced. Electrodes are essential for proper operation and are not made to be used multiple times. Often an additional set of electrodes are stored in the AED's carrying bag or in the AED cabinet so they can be replaced immediately. With some AED's, the battery or batteries also need to be replaced. Especially when the AED has delivered multiple shocks, the remaining capacity may no longer be sufficient. In many cases, you also need to replace the First Responder Kit because materials such as gloves, breathing mask, wipe cloth, etc. cannot be reused.
